World Air Traffic
This is a
beautiful visualization of WORLD AIR TRAFFIC and our technical
achievements not only for flight itself, but for the relative level of
safety we've achieved in doing it. This map would have dumbfounded
people just 100 years ago.
There are
over 90,000 flights a day, at all times there are between 8,000 and
13,000 planes in the air.
The extremely
fast moving objects over the Arctic between Russia and Canada is due
to geometrical warping that happens when you flattened a sphere.
Top and
center distances get exaggerated, thus the speed warping.
The video is
72 seconds long and represents 24 hours. So every 3 seconds represent
1 hour. Every second represents 20 minutes.
